Hydro and trees


This was one problem that disconnected hydro power in our area. There was another problem along the southern hydro line on the island.

Wind storm and hydro

At 11:30 pm Friday the wind storm distrupted the hydro to our area. It was not restored until 4 pm Sunday or approximately 46 hours. Several trees were responsible for the delay.
The road from mill hill to the start of Africa Trail is mainly gravel base. The lake is a sheet of ice.

Another planned power outage!

A phone message from Hydro One says that Wednesday Feb. 16 will have power out from 9 am to noon and 1 pm to 4 pm. Didn't they promise an outage last week that proved to be false?

No power outage

Hydro power was not shut off today, Thursday Feb. 10.

Power out? Really

As of noon, Thursday Feb. 10, there has not been a power outage as planned by Hydro One. Morning temperature of minus 25 deg C might be a factor?

Planned power outage

Hydro One has announced that Thursday Feb. 10 will have the following power outages.
9 am to 12 noon power out
12 noon to 1 pm power on
1 pm to 4 pm power out.
Security alarms may be affected.

Slush

There are major areas of slush hidden under the snow on the lake. Snowmobile travel slows. Snow is about 12" deep.
Yesterday, two police officers were stopping all snowmachines coming to the causeway and checking for registration, licence, insurance and helmets.

Powder on lake

There is about 12" snow powder on the lake. But, certain sections have slush under the snow, causing cross country skis to cake with ice and snowmachines to slow down.

Power outage

Unplanned power outage at 8:58 am and restored at 11:38 am. Hydro One can be contacted at 800-434-1235. An automated answering system determines your address and refers you to a service rep. Source of the problem did not seem to be on the island or adjacent mainland.
