Power outage

Last night, at 7 pm (Saturday) power went out for 2 seconds-enough to disable various clocks around the cottages. At the same time, power went out in East Bay and was out until early today. Mill hill is solid ice under the snow. Tire chains are a good decision. A skidder machine was plowing the Tusk Trail in the afternoon. Causeway to the island has drifted with snow and is unpassable with ATVs. Off the 'beaten trail' the snow depth is close to 24 inches after the heavy snow yesterday.

Yuk!

After approaching the rink in hip wadders, it is evident that lifeguards may soon be necessary to protect skaters.

Rink and slush

Toronto Maple Leafs practice facility on the ELCA rink cancelled due to poor skating conditions. Slush under much of the snow on the lake.

Plowed road

A grader has plowed from mill hill to top of maple hill. Freezing rain several days ago have made the rink 'difficult' to skate. There are several areas of slush on the lake, but usually visible when on the snowmobile. Many moose tracks on the cottage road. East Bay road unplowed into the cottages.

Skating and road

There is about 1 inch of snow over a layer of ice on the road. Hills might be difficult for vehicles. Skating rink has snow bonded to the ice. Yuk. Wishing for rain to smooth the surface.
